The focus of my practice is on climate and environmental law.
Some of my specific areas of focus and experience are:
- Climate change law and litigation
- Injunctions, blockades, civil disobedience, and contempt
- Federal, provincial and municipal regulatory law as they relate to natural resources and the environment
- Private prosecutions
- Charter rights, human rights and Indigenous rights as they relate to climate, the environment and civil disobedience
- Protected areas, including municipal, provincial, First Nation designations, co-management, sacred sites, and property protected under charitable purpose trusts
- Forestry, old-growth logging, and eco-forestry
Whenever possible I get the result my client is looking without going to court. When that has not been possible I have represented clients at the BC Court of Appeal, BC Supreme Court, BC Small Claims Court, BC Provincial Court, Ontario Court of Justice, Ontario Superior Court of Justice, in commercial arbitration, at the Federal Court of Appeal (written submissions) and the Supreme Court of Canada (written submissions).
